I am using vdub to capture
problem is I only have a limited amount of disk space around 20gig free or so
I am trying to record a 1 hour movie from VHS but end up with a file that is huge (18+ gig) I need alitle space left to encode in etc
I have tried huffy and PICvideo but still end up with 20 gig of file
my system can not handle real tiem divX or else i'd use it
Yes I know I need to badly upgrade to atleast a 2g system but right now I Cant afford it at this time but I know my problems will likey be soled when i do
but until then what can I do? anyone?

Try adjusting your picvideo's quality setting to around 12-14... the lower number used, the greater compression/smaller file size....you will lose a tad of viewing quality, but it may do you until the new rig is obtained.
Always check helpfiles/instructions before leaping... -
You shouldn't exceed 20gb with the PicVideo MJPEG codec even with a higher setting.
Before my Canopus ADVC-100 came along I was using setting 19 and I'm sure it didn't exceed 20gb/hr.
