  1. Can Aspire AD-900 play SVCD?

    It seems like a great player but there is no point in getting one if it cannot.

    i dunno........but i currently have an aspire ad-1100 and it plays some vcds and svcds in black-and-white, the vertica hold is weird, and no sound is present.

    It's trying to play the (s)vcd in pal mode... my ad-900 did this when I first tried to play a vcd. You have to set the player to NTSC mode (if you have an NTSC tv), not Auto, and the problem should be gone. I'm not sure how this is done on the 1100 but on the 900 it's under the settings menu which can only be accessed when the dvd tray is out. If you have a PAL tv then set the player to PAL instead of Auto and it should work just the same... Hope that helps.

    As for the AD-900 playing SVCDs, I'm still working on it. I just really don't want to take the time to convert a video and then burn as an svcd.

    just a quick update the AD-900 does play SVCDs... and it plays them quite well actually.
