  1. Hello i recently installed Win Vista x64 on my acer laptop, and it seems to have wifi problems
My connection keeps disconnecting after several hours and its really annoying.
    On Event log its says
"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection : Has encountered an internal error and has failed."

    or other similar errors like

"Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection : Has determined that the network adapter is not functioning properly."

Note that most of the time when am using the laptop rarely it disconnects and when it does disconnect the "connect to a network button" i press it it does take hours to open and if it opens i refresh the networks there is no network showing up. I used Xirrus WIFI inspector but again there is now network showing up.

Also when am not using Wifi access and i use cable directly from the router it works fine without any single problem.

What might be the problem? Help its trully needed. Thanks

  2. Hello - not sure if you installed a dedicated driver when you installed te 64 bit OS, but if you didn't then I would (i) uninstall the wireless adapter from device manager (start/run/devmgmt.msc). Install the appropriate driver and restart, the card should install itself using the new driver, but if not you may need to select the driver specifically during the add hardware wizard. Don't know if Acer supply a 64 bit driver, but Intel chipset drivers are available here:

    See how that goes

    cheers

  4. sorry to hear that mate, you could try here:

    http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/

and see if you can find a different driver, I use a paid alternative from.driveragent.com which has got me out of trouble a few times. It does sound like a driver issue to me (could be wrong of course).

If not I would still try uninstalling and reinstalling the wifi adapter, baking sure it picks up the correct (acer) driver and not a generic windows driver, this could also help if the installation went wrong first time.

    cheers

  6. sorry to hear that - must admit tales like this is why I leave 64 bit windows alone. If you want to stick with the 64 bt OS you may be better served getting a PCMCIA wireless adapter (research one with good 64 bit support) and disabling your internal one.

I must admit internal wireless cards cause a lot of problems, even on 32 bit systems so the above may be worth a shot in any case - very cheap these days.

    Good luck in any case
