i have a nec1300a it takes 14minutes to burn a full dvdr at 4x is this the "normal" 4x speed?
when ripping it never goes faster then 3.0x using dvddercypter any idea why?

i got the nec 1300a and yes, 14 minutes is normal at 4x burning. the ripping speeds of dvd writers has been covered in many threads, u'll be best off gettin a dvd-rom for ripping but u might be able to increase the speed with herries hacked firmware(which is wut i use).

No, untrue.
I don't know why DVD burner manufacturers purpose limit reading speed. It was like that with CD burners for a long time too. I think it has something to do with the damn RIAA/MPAA, to be honest.

Okay so the hacked firmware will be better then the current (1.09 i think) offical firmware? Which flash do i need?

but when i got my dvd writer because my dvd reader was failing, and the writer rips sooooo much slower then the reader use to -
