When I ripped a dvd with dvd decrypter it was at a speed of 1.3. Is this the normal speed because it took well over an hour to do. I have the Pioneer DVR-A06U 4x +- RW. Then when I shrunk it with DVD Shrink while doing the deep analysis option, that took just over 4 hrs total (1.4x). When I have used DVD X Gold and Xpress in the past it has only taken 1 1/2 hrs to rip and burn a dvd. Is there something I need to be doing to speed up the process as I am new to this. Thanks in advance. I have an AMD 2.0 Ghz 512 Ram etc.

Buy yourself a 16X DVD-ROM only drive if you want fast ripping. DVD burners' read speed is usually slow.

If you're using your Pioneer dvd burner to rip the dvd's they are firmware limited to 2x speed on ripping. There is a hacked firmware which will allow rips up to 12x speed. The best solution is to get a seperate 16x DVD-Rom to rip the dvds with. Must faster speeds and less wear and tear on the burner.

What about the time it takes to shink a dvd, is this normal (4 hrs w/ deep analysis enabled)?

DVD Shrink like all transcoders is CPU dependant. What is the speed of your CPU. DVD Shrink is relatively slow. DVD2ONE or Elby CloneDVD would be faster.

For reference, on my P4 2.4GC with 512MB RAM, deep analysis takes only 1/2 hrs for a DVD-9 (e.g. Matrix Reload 2 & LOTR 2)

4 hours does seem a bit excessive for the deep analysis. I'd say between 1/2 an hour to an hour to rip and compress a full DVD-9.
