  1. I don't know what would fix it. I can't even identify what it's actually using.

Seems that mpeg 2 decoder seems to be the problem, what do you suggest me try?

So for I tried removing all my codecs in Video Codec and Audio Codecs properties.

I tried a lot of codec packs which I removed spark clean from my computer, I think.

I did some research about codecs pack and realized that they're unhealthy for my computer so I decided to install codecs individually.

Any help would be appreciated thank you.

WMP9 just doesn't like DivX/XviD (which is what your playing despite your redaction).

The fact that GSpot doesn't give you an Audio or Video codec means that your system is trying something else by default. You have majorly screwed your system up with all the codecs you've added and removed. The easiest way to fix it is system restore (XP), or format and re-install.

    The codecs you need are:
    1) MP3 (freebies in tool section)
    2) AC3 filter (freebie in tool section)
    3) FFDShow (free, will render MPEG4 and lots of others, needs DirectX to run)
    4) MPEG2 codec (freebie in tools section, good for MPEG2 and VOB's)
    5) Ogg codec set(free) if you download a lot.

That's it. If you are encoding then you may want DivX 5.0.5 (5.1 is sloooooow and doesn't give you much improvement). Doom9 has rated the latest XviD codec as the best MPEG4 codec around.

  3. stinky's mpeg2 codec uses up a lot of power. I found that, that was the problem. stinky's codec used 50% of my cpu while other codec I tried used 20-30%. So I guess I fixed it.

As for wmp9 not liking divx I find that kinda wrong, cause Divx and Xvid works pretty good for me. Also this is mpeg2 not divx like it showed right there in gspot.

As for all the codec packs I installed I think I removed all the codecs in the Device Manager and that took care of codec problems. Everything is back to normal now, thanks anyway guys.
