  1. Hello guys,

I watched a movie a few days ago and the subtitles played perfectly. Today I started watching 10 Items or Less and the Subtitles started appearing inside of bubbles.

I am using Community Based Codec Pack which has always been perfect to me.

I have the renderless options selected but the VSFilter won't load.

I tried reinstalling and resetting the settings and nothing happens. The subtitles continue to appear the way you see on the picture.

Could anyone help me? I am completely desperate and have run out of options.

    Hi there.

If VSfilter isn't being loaded, then the ffdshow subtitle filter is being used,
so you'd better disable this latter.

Also, are you sure the subtitle file is a "humble" .srt or .sub,
    and not a super-fancy .ASS ???

    Play with VLC.

Or else check what subtitle decoder the community based codec pack has installed. Or uninstall it and just use ffdshow.

  4. Hello Sir and thank you for the quick reply.

It is indeed an srt. I've opened it with notepad and it's as simple as it's always been.

This problem is not occurring only with this movie, but with any other movie I have. None of them work with Media Player Classic anymore.

You said I have to disable ffdshow, but how do I do that?

And how do I enable VSfilter?

I've just tried with Windows Media Player 12 and it loads with VSFilter, but I hate that player and would like to continue using Media Player Classic. How could it load with Windows Media Player and not with Media Player Classic?

What could have caused this problem?

The only modification I did to my PC was the installation of the 10.5 ATI graphic drivers to my 5850. Other than that I did nothing else to it.

  5. I would open MPC and go to Options Subtitles Default and see what font is selected. I've been downloading some free custom fonts lately just for the hell of it. I did notice you do get some weird fonts. I have seen one where each letter is in a bubble. Try changing the font to something like Tahoma and see what happens.
