    Since I sent back the ADVC1394 that was incompatable with my Nforce2 motherboard, I am looking for the next best easiest method. I might add the primary reason for capture is to convert the family Hi8 tapes to DVD. The Hi8 is over 8 years old but still runs well (knock on wood) and I have no firewire input..

    Not in your list but my vote would be ADS usb Instant Dvd-2 in conjunction with bundled Ulead Moviefactory-2 direct to disc option

    One application, one process, have a beer & then injoy. Real time hardware mpg encodeing, audio lock technology. May not be what a "pro" would choose for editing but is great at consumer level-your goal
