Okay first off I have been reading these forums for months before going on the DVD route - It didn't seem to help me much I still hit a brick wall.
Let me who you my configuration -
Video capture computer/Burner computer - p4 22.8 gig. It has an 9700 All in wonder pro. and a Sony DRU-U10A dvd RW
Redering and compiling computer - P3 850mhz 128 mb XP pro, only things loaded onto it is MPEG-VCR, Adobe Encore DVD 1.0, Premire 7.0 and Pinnacle Studio 8.
Okay here are the steps I have done - Recorded items as Good setting on ATI (which is 6mbps 720x456 - Audio 44100 16 bit sterio). This works wonderfully no audio misques all capture is fine.
Edited out the intro and exit items as well as commercials to drop down the 1.3 gig file to a 1.03 gig file that is appx 22.5 mins long. When played back there is still not any lost audio or misque.
Okay now it was time to put together the project. I have tried in both Adobe and in Pinnacle and both combie and render and preview fine. But when I go to burn the DVD it progressivly loses audio sync.
Any other information I can provide if you need anything to figure out this problem.

For the best results you have to resample your AVI files to 48kHz before encoding to MPEG-2 (you can do it easily with VirtualDub for example), or just capture with 48kHz.
I've had similar problems with audio sync with ATI capture card. But when I changed it into Pinnacle DC10plus - all problems with audio sync were gone.
Of course other problems appeared, but all have been killedArek -
Um When I capture them I am capturing them straight to MPEG not to AVI. I have now changed my captures to be 48k instead of 44k... is there an easy way to convert the current 44k's to 48k's so I can test with what I already have saved?

So again you can't have 720x456

P.S.
As for the MPEG files you have now at 44.1k audio ... you need to demultiplex the audio then you should be able to do the conversion or resampling from 44.1k to 48k using BeSweet. As for the demultiplex part you can try TMPGEnc or use DVD2AVI to DEMUX the audio."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci

Okay my mistake from the top It was 720x480 not 456 -
So technically the only thing I must do is reset the audio to 48k and it should not lose the sync?
I noteds in the MPEG-VCR it has a spot I can change the audio setting to 48k and I sent back into the program and it showed the resaved file as a 48k audio clip should this solve my problem? -
I just wanted to let you know that 48khz sound did the trick! Here is the GREAT news.
If your going for a DVD with as much content as possible then you don't have to record the programs in DVD quailty (because of the waste when Pinnacle drops down the frames to fit the clips on one DVD).
Here is what I did - 1) I captured to the good quality (720x480 6.0 mps audio 44.2khz) and then 2) in MPEG-VCR I cut the clip editing out the commercials intros and credits and 3) when I saved it again I went into the audio properties and changed it to 48khz not 44.1. (This still gave me the .99 gig file instead of the 1.5 gig file) 4) Then I pulled each clip into Pinnacle Studio 8. 5) I then took the "detected clips" from my edited mpeg and combined them all again 5) I then split the Episodes (remember there are 3 episodes per 1 program) making each episode its own clip. Basically this is so each episode gets its own "clip" in the timeline and makes step 7 easier 6) Then I did fine tune editing between episodes (to take out any extra frames). 7)I then linked my intro menu to each of the Episodes. 8) Finally I went to the Make Disk tab and the settings I used was as follows
From the left to the right I selected DVD to compile it to DVD format - I selected longest playing time radio button and lastly I checked off the mpeg audio. (This gave me like 50 more minutes allowed on my created DVD).
Anyhow I hope this might help anyone with similar sync problems with using MPEG and creating DVD's
