  1. I am recording right now using a Liteon 5001. I have recorded some content to DVD+RW and pulled it into my computer using DVD author (as suggest by others as a good tool) I have been cutting commercials and reburning to the DVDRW and DVD+R.

Is ther any easier way to cut the commercials. It is kind of tricky to find the spots in a given tv show. Appreciate any tips or suggestions on doing this.

    Thanks

  4. Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7.01:

    Ulead VideoStudio 7.01:

    http://www.ulead.com/vs/runme.htm

Both will edit MPEG without re-rendering video.

    They *will* re-render the audio.

    Robert,

I am doing the same thing. I have a LiteOn LVW-5001, which I pulled a show off of Dish Sat. I downloaded (trialware) Womble's MPEG Video Wizard (similar to MPEGVCR), cut the commercials (very accurate) also used the GOP fixer (lots of errors). Then I used Roxio's VideoWave Movie Creator to author (there's gotta be something better.) It played on my Pioneer DVL-700. The only problem I encountered was some blocking (not sure what the technical name is) during black screens (I need advice on what this is, unless it is a result of the source.)

If this helps, great. I would be open to any suggestions.

I know that by using MPEG Video Wizart that I do not need to rerender, but what tool do I send the resulting file other than rerendering with VideoWave Movie creator?

I feel like I am on the verge of getting a process together, but it is still imperfect.

I got the nanoPEG Editor with my card. It's very primitive, but its small and quick for cutting parts out. They sell a version here www.nanocosmos.de

  10. I tried that program, I don't like it.

I use Ulead VideoStudio V6 with updates installed. When cutting out a commercial I use the transition "Fade to Black" (in the update download). This gives me a smooth cut out and fade back with a black background. This is the best way I've found to get the results I'm wanting.

The program will 'render' the transition effects but if I set it up properly it will 'Smart Render' (no render) the rest of my movie.

Try TMPGenc DVD Author. It's a great program and very simple to use. Many useful options expecially if you project is oversized a tad. It will except 16:9 and 4:3, AC3 audio, and will even create a DVD from a collection of VOB files if you like.

    Good luck.

When I first began using TmpgEnc DVD Author; I found a guide that showed how to edit commercials out of the mpeg-2 file.

    It worked pretty well too.

My problem is that I've lost the guide that I thought that I had bookmarked. And I've forgotten the steps that the guide gave.

Anyone know exactly step by step how to edit the commercials out of an mpeg-2 file with TmpgEnc DVD Author ?

    Thanks
