  1. I'm using dvd shrink to shrink the movie....I drag every bit of the sub folder content over to the re-author page starting with the menu's first then I drag the movie sub folders next then the extras...I DRAG everyone of the sub-folder's and shrink the movie down to were i can fit it onto one dvd.....the disk burns fine with nero and plays great in my stand alone dvd player but when I place the disk into the dvd player it starts to cycle thru the menus and all the content i put onto the disk automatically...and when it stops on the main menu I can't select /navigate at all in the menu...it sets there for a minute a then starts to play the movie automatically....I have already wasted 2 disk on this movie so Im going to have to use my +rw disk until someone can help me out by telling what i'm doing wrong,or at least leads me to someone who does..I have searched for 2hours in the search forum

  4. probably the quickest and painless way of keeping all the menus and stuff is to load your video_ts files up with dvdshrink.

open up the main movie folder and you should see something like this:

Don't use the reauthor option. Just load all the video_ts files with dvdshrink. Next, uncheck the audio and/or subtitles you don't need. when you uncheck each item, the compression rate should adjust accordingly. I like to keep the compression rate 75% or higher, nothing lower than 50%.
Once you're finished with this, just click on backup, tell dvdshrink where you want the backup files, and wait for it to finish.

When it's done, open the new backup files, plug them into nero (or other authoring software) and burn away.

When you play the new backup dvd on your standalone dvd player, your menus should be intact.

  5. Will this work for a dvd-9 to a dvd-5 DA FREAK?If so I'm going to try it right now!I'm still a little confused on the exact steps .......I just opened up the movie and clicked on the dvd folder and took away the audio that I didn't want and then I clicked back-up and DVD Shrink is encoding as I type this.Is this the way you are telling me to do it ?If it is then that is just to simple! I hope I did it the way you told me to ....thanks DaFREAK for being helpful to a newbie.

  6. sounds like you did it correctly, and yes it will shrink dvd-9 to dvd-5. There really wouldn't be a point in using dvdshrink if you could just make 1:1 backups.

    1. load video_ts files up using dvdshrink
    2. open up the main movie folder
    3. click on the main movie title
    4. uncheck audio and/or subtitles you don't want or need. (using the picture provided above, I would uncheck greek and greek-children, ac3 2-ch english - director's commentary, and dts 6-ch english (depending on whether or not your setup can make use of dts)
    5. click on backup
    6. show dvdshrink where you want to place your backup files
    7. wait for dvdshrink to finish encoding
    8. drag and drop new backup files into nero
    9. burn dvd
    10. play your new backup disk in your standalone player and check to see if your menus will work. Should work fine.
