  2. try updating your drivers.. My crappy ATI TV Wonder VE wouldn't capture more than 720x240 until I installed some new drivers.

  3. I have one of those cards. I spent a lot of time messing with it before I got it to work. Unfortunately, I never could get it to capture at high resolutions without dropping (lots of) frames. It was a great learning experience though. By the time I was done I had some small experience with VirtualDub, TMPGenc, and Nero. I have recently convinced my wife to get me a Canopus ADVC100 (Christmas you know). I am capturing 720x480 with zero frame loss. I just happened to buy a firewire 160GB HD, which turned out to be a good idea as the ADVC100 produces about 13GB of data for each hour of video.

My machine is an AMD Athlon 2000+ with 1GB memory and about 300GB of disk. It captured 352x240 (AIW) with virtually no frame loss. It converts DV AVI (from the ADVC100) to DivX (4000Mbps) at about 19-20 fps.

You have a 4- to 5-year-old card ... time to upgrade. The Rage 128 NON-PRO version is just not that good. It's old. Has an old BT chipset on it for capture.

The 128PRO has some hacks to use ATI MMC 8.x and is an excellent card. Has the THEATRE capture chipset on it.

And sounds like your drivers are too old. Update.
