Two questions here from a newbie.
1. Has anyone experimented with different settings to try to get more than the usual 2 hours of high quality video on a DVD?
Specifically, I wanting to try to get about 3 hours of VHS material burned to a single DVD. Can I do this by lowering the bit rate and/or resolution?
Quality is the most important, but if I can sacrifice a little bit of the quality for some more space, it may be worth the trade off.
2 Question 2. If I get a DVD-ROM disk that reads DVD-R, can you make do a DVD to DVD copy, or do I have to image it to the HD.
Thanks

While VHS has less horizontal lines than DVD (about half), VHS contains less information. So you can use a lower bitrate and still have the same quality. I'd say, you can store at least 4 hours of VHS on a DVD and not loose any quality with the same resolution.
