A friend of mine is coming to visit me for a few days in feb and he was thinking about bringing his DVD Collection with him so i could back it up for him. (he has 2 kids 5 and 11 and they eat more dvds than they eat food)
I was thinking about buying a few DVD+-R/+-RW Burners to give to some friends as late XMas gifts anyway so .....
Can i use 3 or 4 DVD Burners hooked up to 1 computer to rip 3 or 4 movies at the same time and then burn 3 or 4 movies at the same time.
If so what kind of software and hardware should i be looking at getting for both the ripping and the burning?

simple answer, NO. Even if a piece of software would let that be possible, i doubt 4 movies at once could even stream through an ATA33 connection reliably. Ripping will be dog slow and Nero will probably only let u burn one movie at a time. You're better off with one DVD-ROM to rip it and a DVD+\-R drive to burn it. you can buy standalone copier's but they do 7 copies of one dvd, maybe you could configure it another way.

You can run multiple instances of NERO to burn to two different drives connected to the machine but if you don't have a gig of ram or more, don't bother.
And I'd agree with the previous poster that RIPPING with one drive sequentially would beat several drives concurrently in speed.
Just use the drive that achieves the highest rip speed (eg not the burner) -
Thanks for the replys
I wish there was a way to do multiple disks at once but ill just have to come up with a differnt way....
I havent seen my bud in nearly a year so i dont want to sit here the whole time hes here ripping and burning, id rather spend the time goofin off with him. :P
I guess the best sollution might be to go buy a MONSTER SIZED hard-drive and ripp them all while he's here then just send him the back ups thru snail-mail.
Any suggestions would be great
