Panasonic DMR-E80H is any one have any problem's getting DVD-R to play on other DVD player's that should play. I have read that some Panasonic recorder's do not have a good authoring process. Just like on the PC with old Nero software same media but when nero fix the burning problem after 5510 the burned DVD start to work on more DVD player's.

S-Man,
I believe there is an option in the DMR-E80HS to select "DVD-R Compatibility". I don't know for sure as I have the DMR-HS2.
Try turning that feature on and see if it helps. If it doesn't, then its due to the way DVD-R's are authored with a Panasonic, they seem to have compatibility issues when they are played with other DVD players. Its pretty much seems hit or miss. Also, even if it does play, it may not play correctly (ie, lose the functions of FF and RW, this happened to me on a APEX 5131).

For whatever that may be worth -- I hope it helps!

And Daewoo...

donpedro,
Oh, yeah, forgot about Daewoo. It kinda goes like "geez, guys, pay more than twenty bucks for a DVD player, and see if you get better results!"
I say that in jest, though -- dang, I love how the AD-5131 (and other Apexes) work with VCD discs, which I use to view my digital pictures on the TV. When a bunch of those came back for sale at Wal-Mart a while back, I bought three of the suckers...

Media quality (cheap or expensive), format +/-, way how DVD is authored, way (options) how it is burned (UDF...), which version of burning soft are you using (famouse Nero issue), burning speed (even when it will let you burn 2x it doesn't mean you can), burner brand/type/firmware combination (old Sony DRU-500 issue) and finaly DVD Player's quality of optics, if it is picky about media, firmware, if it does support media type +/-.....

Not all stand alone DVD players like DVD-R discs that come straight out of Panny stand alone DVD recorders.
I have two that play DVD-R discs made on a computer but not on a Panny stand alone.
The only work-around is to buy a player that does like it suc has a model by Panasonic (most of which also play DVD-RAM now as well) or re-author the disc on the computer which will solve the problem but that means either throwing away the original DVD-R or using DVD-RAM
Since you can buy a simple DVD-ROM drive that also reads DVD-RAM discs that would be the cheapest way of doing it. Import the DVD-RAM to the computer then make a custom DVD-R with your computer burner.
TMPGEnc DVD Author is great for doing this.
