  1. I've heard that you shouldn't put custom disc labels on to burnt DVDs because it may ruin your burner or player when they are played. Is this true?

  2. I use the Memorex hub labels.
Properly applied hub labels do not cause me any problems.
If using an ink jet printer allow enough time for the labels to completely dry.
Other types of stick on labels(non hub) will throw the disc out of balance.

  3. What is a hub label? What is the difference between a normal label?

Some set-top players have problems, some don't. Some DVD drives (in computers) have problems, some don't. Two people with the same set-top player or computer drive: one person experiences a problem, one doesn't.

I've never experienced any problems, but I've read about people that have had major problems.

I think it's just luck of the draw.

I've labeled by DVD back-ups with a full label, but not my home movies, for fear that some day it will create a problem, and I'll lose them.

A "hub" label is a label that fits only in the clear little center part of the CD/DVD, that a standard label doesn't cover. I think they are also known as a "core" label.

That depends. Where in the world are you?

I got some at (I think it was) Office Depot about 3-4 years ago for CDs, and it came with a little applicator - the brand I bought were (Fellows) NEATO, used those up, kept the applicator, and bought more labels (same brand) at Target just a couple of months ago.

As for software, I've used (Fellow) NEATO MediaFace, as well as Photoshop. Photoshop gives the best results (in my opinion), but is not for beginners.

By far the best and EASY'EST label software I have seen is
Acoustica CD/DVD label maker. Very easy to make cd/dvd labels,
cd jewel and dvd covers by clicking on the image ya want.

    Hope this helps!

  10. Can someone please help me out? I am currently using Memorex LabelMaker for my DVD labels, and the program is awful. I can not get the alignment correct. Does anyone out there have a microsoft word template for the memorex style cd sticker sheet? Please let me know if you do. Thank you very much!

  11. I've done hundreds of Neato CD labels and played them in CD players, DVD players, and the CD players in the family's vehicles, which are the the slot-type loading mechanisms.

Never had any problems, but then again the blanks I use have nothing on the 'label' side of the disc.

I've only done a few DVD labels but they seem fine also.
