So far I have been using Verbatim DVD+R's and i had some problems with a few discs.
For my next batch I have narrowed it down to either Taiyo Yuden's 4X DVD-R's or Ritek 4x G04 DVD-R's only because I've heard many positive things about these two brands.
If anyone out there has used both brands and has any comparative information that may help me out, please post a reply.
Also, if you only used one of these brands, please let me know how they worked for you.
thanks for the help.

If you don't mind paying for TY's, then use 'em. You won't regret it.

The best brand may ultimatly depend on ur burner compatibility. I use the Ritek (Ridata) G04 when I use -media and its worked well on both my Pioneer a05 and Plex 708a. I use memorex +r 4x media most of the time because it will burn at 6-8x on the plex burner. My answer would be buy which every is the cheaper since both the media u mention are good quality discs. My experience with the Taio Yuden was only with one disc and it work for what ever thats was worth, since I can not seem to get any Taiyo in Canada yet, memorex are common and so are the Riteks now.

I use Ritek G03 and G04 with a NEC 1300A, and they both work great. I've never used TY but I've only heard good things about them. If they ever become comparably priced to the Riteks then I'll give them a shot but I see no reason to now when the Riteks play without issue.

^^ thats the only thing... so you say you never had a problem with the Riteks, but I've heard of some people who have.
I still havn't heard of anyone complaining about the TY's... but then again, maybe thats because nobody buys them at their price..
I guess I wouldn't mind paying a little more for the TY's as long as I know i wont have any problems with them. But if I can get the same results with the Riteks then of course I'd rather buy them.
Maybe I'll just buy both and see which I like better... i dunno wut else to do. If anyone out there used both can you please let me know your results? -
Why not just go with a great sale on gray spindle Memorex or Imation they're RICOHJPNR01 media and burn great. As long as you don't buy the black spindles your fine. It seems that every week some store has a sale on them. I don't like buying media online just for the reason that if there's a problem it's a hassle to return them. Most stores will refund your money if you're not happy with what you bought.
If you have doubts about RICOH media just look around this forum and you'll see for yourself that it's very good media. -

I mainly use Riteks cause they are cheaper and they work great on my LG 4040B burner. I bought a couple of 5 packs of Taiyo Yudens once but I never got a perfect burn with them. There was always some small video glitch/read error on them when played on my standalone DVD player, Panasonic RV-32 so I'm sticking with Riteks. -

I notice the Fuji's at staples also but didnt check the media code, yea the Taio are now available but like u said 5 for ~$20, too much $, I'll stick with the Riteks at $1.50 (tax in) per disc for now. -

Just wish they made +R's. I'd be 100% TY then. C'est la vie."It is not enough to obey Big Brother. You must love him". -
Thank You Sir. I had no idea.
All of the +R's I had run across to date were "Made In Taiwan".
Good to know the japanese are making these as well. -
