  1. Astrum!

I have succesfully created a DVD from my AVI/DIVX file using TMPGEnc to convert the video to DVD video and using Maestro to author the DVD.

Coming to more complex videos that i have, i need to know what aspect ratio's to choose for specific kinds of resolutions.

    I have two different videos..
    A 720 X 352 (2.05:1) NTSC DivX (A widescreen video basically)
    A 352 X 288 PAL DivX (A video CD format basically)

For my first video i used 1:1 VGA Full Screen (Keep Aspect Ratio) setting in TMPGEnc and 4:3 in Maestro.
For my VideoCD ... is this the correct setting to choose? Or should i change this setting to give a better, appropriate display? I noticed that in my DVD, there is a Black Vertical bar on the right & left side of the video. It was there in the encoded .m2v file as well.

For my 720 X 352 video... i would like that the widescreen is maintained... i don't have a widescreen TV, and if i'm not mistaken, a Black Horizantal bar comes on top & bottom of the video in such cases.. how do you get that? What setting should i choose in TMPGEnc & Maestro for this widescreen DivX so that it's aspect is maintained and i don't get long untidy faces if it's converted to usual full screen?

    Thanks,
    Mickey

  2. In TMPGenc, 'Load' DVD template.
Click - Settings - Advanced - Clip Frame. Check the box and double click the command 'Clip Frame'. From the next screen you should be able to get what you are looking for. The default settings there should give you a standard 4:3 and add those nasty black bars (or whatever color you want). Just check out the buttons "Clip Frame" and "Arange Settings". You'll get it.

    Good luck.
