So when I bought my DVD burner a few months ago, I opted for an internal drive because I am a cheapskate...and my wife would have killed me if I had spent close to $300 on "some damned computer toy" as she often puts it. Anyway, I've kinda regretted not getting an external drive...I use my laptop for most of my video editing and whatnot, since out of my 3 PCs it has the best processor and most memory. I've started to look at Firewire drive enclosures, but before I slap my DVD drive into a "little metal box" I wanted to see if there are any potential problems that come up from using a DIY drive enclosure kit...I'd just love to tell my wife "Yeah, that DVD Burner I wasn't supposed to buy, well I shorted it out...I need to buy another"
"I argue very well. Ask any of my remaining friends. I can win an argument on any topic, against any opponent. People know this, and steer clear of me at parties. Often, as a sign of their great respect, they don't even invite me."

  2. Never used one, but from what have read from users that have, seems pretty simple, not much to go wrong. Its not like you have to pull your burner to bits, just plug it into the enclisure.

  3. These kits work like a charm. I have several and have yet to have any negative issues.
