As a newbie could someone advise me how to convert a DIVX.TS movie file to a format which I can play on my home DVD player.

  2. Have a look in the convert section over
    <--- HERE
Then try looking in the guides section over
    <--- HERE as well.

Should find the answer in there.
Never tried to do it myself but have always found them sections a good place to start.

pretty easy to read stuff. you need a guide called divx to dvd.

if you can read, then you can find it.

when problems arise, then ask some specifics.

Here's the DVD standard NTSC file types:
    720 x 480 pixels MPEG2
    704 x 480 pixels MPEG2
    352 x 480 pixels MPEG2
    352 x 240 pixels MPEG2
    352 x 240 pixels MPEG1
*Notice mpeg1 is on the list.
