Hey there......my apologies in advance for my newbie ignorance, but I'm attempting to convert some home movies from VHS to DVD, using my new Philips DVDR75. The Phillips receives my cable feed directly.

I've connected the video/audio OUT of the vcr to the front jacks of the dvd recorder. When I hit play on the vcr, I don't see an image, nor does the vcr image record on DVD. Both the vcr and dvd recorder are set to Channel 3. The only input the dvd recorder continues to receive is my cable signal. So. uh.........what basic step am I forgetting to do here?

I am using a standard black and white RCA plug that came with my dvd player to connect the two units. Even though there are input/outputs for 3 (red/yellow/white), the RCA plugs I am using only have two connectors (one for video, one for audio).......am I using the wrong kind of RCA plugs? As far as I know, colors don't really matter as long as you match them up.

Again, sorry for my ignorance. I'd appreciate any help.

Aha! Yep, THAT was it. Took me a while to find how to switch inputs with the remote. The Philips manual isn't always the clearest, and I chanced upon it by mistake really.

    Thanks! Transfer went great!
