  1. I have the Lite On 451S, I just burned my first couple of dvd's, they play fine on my Toshiba dvd player, but the burner cannot read them.

I get an error message that says "Invalid file format", I used the guide listed below to burn with Nero and used the "DVD Video" format in Nero. Should I be selecting a different format?? Like UDF/ISO or DVD-ROM(UDF) or something.

I used the COMPUSA cheapo DVD-R's and the DVD's stop playing when they reach the last chapter, this has happened so far with all 3 dvd's. Is it the media? I did get an error message during "Lead-Out" part, but the burn process was at 100 % completed and so I thought that the disc burned fine.

PowerDVD has been known to have issues with some burnt discs. It says something like "the disc is damaged or may need cleaning". I haven't seen a workaround as yet. If they work OK in set top box, why me worry ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

I don't if this is the cause. It may only apply to Sony drives.

Why am I unable to view my burned DVD in my DVD/RW drive?

You will not be able to view a region free disc(DVD's you record yourself are region free), until a region code has been set by viewing a manufactured DVD disc that has a region code setting. Please download and review the Region code notice.

I realized that and played a retail DVD, now it loads some burned dvd's but not all of them, also If I try to change the chapter in Powerdvd, I immediately get the "Dirty or scratched disc error".

I am using the compusa cheapo DVD-R's.

BTW, what format do I need to use in Nero in order to archive data on a DVD? Is it a simple DVD-ROM?

Some DVDRs I have give the PowerDVD error immediately while others do it when you go to change the chapter. Just a problem with PowerDVD as far as I know. Is it important to you to be able to watch them on your PC ?

I get laughed at every time I mention here that I use Nero Express because it is very easy to understand for newbies. Swith to express, Click Make New Data Disc. That simple.
    If in doubt, Google it.

New data disc - I guess it doesn't matter then whether you insert a DVD or a CD in the drive after selecting data disc?

In express, there is a dropdown box from which you can select DVD or CD, then select New Data Disc.
    If in doubt, Google it.
