I wondering if someone can give their opinion about which dvd-rom is best for ripping. I have a ACER dvd-rom and cannot get more than 6x for ripping. Ive tried the firmware updates checked dma and everything is right. Ive heard about lite-on getting 12x ripping speeds and was wondering if everyone could help me out in deciding which drive to buy.
Thanks

Lite-on 166 and Samsung 616 are both very good drives. what kind of disc are you ripping though? singel layer discs can get up to 12-15 area of rips speed, but 6-8x is about normal for dual layer discs. they simply don't read as fast.
