Hi
I use dvdshrink to back up my movies as my little brother has a habbit of wrecking them.
Normaly it takes me 30-40 mins to rip a dvd to my hard drive but for some weird reason now its taking 1-2 hours and the pc goes really slow and crappy, This problem first started when i formmated hard drive and reinstalled everything then i added a second HD to the pc.
Another thing is when i use dvd decrypter uts only reading at 1.2x - 1.4x i have no idear why its so slow now i hate it dose anyone know what i can do to fix this problem.
My System Specs
P4 2.4
120 Gig Segate 7200
40 Gig Segate 7200
pionner a06
lite-on dvd/cdrw combo drive
512 meg of ram
Win Xp pro
I need help its just to slow.

Have you tried uninstalling Decrypter & then Reinstalling it?
I've had a similar problem in that, single layer discs used to rip at around 4x, but now only rip at the same speed as the dual layer discs which is approx 2x, I reinstalled decrypter & it all went back to normal. -
right click My Computer. click properties. go to the hardware tabe and click device manager. find the IDE controllers. open them and highlight your primary IDE. right click and select properties. go to the advanced tabe and it'll list what its set to. DVD should be running in Ultra DMA 2. the Hard drive will probably be running Ultra DMA 5. In mine the DVD drives are both on the secondary IDE. check both. if a DVD is set to PIO right click that channel and choose to uninstall it. it'll prompt for reboot. when it boots back up XP will redetect the channel and should try DMA mode again.

I could be wrong but....
Right-Click My Computer > goto Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers > Right Click on Primary IDE Channel > goto Properties > goto Advanced Settings > make sure Device 0 and Device 1's transfer mode is set to DMA if available. If in doubt, Google it.
