DVD rip. Standalone DVD protection.

Dear All,

what can be the SONY DVD player (standalone) playbacks the rippped by SMARTRIPPER and recorded by NERO movie few minutes and stops saying this is illegal copy I wan't play it.
The DVD player in laptop plays the movie without any warnings.

The CSS and rest were set off.

What model of DVD player is it ?

I know some Sony's can be difficult with media, but I have never seen an "error" message like that before... the closest I have seen is an incorrect region warning, never an accusation like you describe.

Most of those older Sony DVD players won't even play CD-R's.

I know, I've got one of those. In every other respect it's still a top spec machine, though.

The only time I've ever seen a Sony reject a disc with a warning like that was down to a RCE issue on a "region 0" chipped player. I'm interested in the model number of the player in question because the error doesn't sound "right". It may well have just been a generic "unable to play this disc" type message, but to actually question your scruples is another matter.
