I hope I posted this in the right forum, if not then I apologize.

I just purchased the Denzell Washingtion movie Daja Vu. I ran it through DVDFabHDDecrypter and it seemed to rip well (movie only - engilish subs - AC3 -5.1)

I put it in my pioneer set-top player and it all looks good until a few minutes before each chapter break.

Suddenly - I'm looking at directors comments and how the movie was produced. I can skip past that section and go back into the movie where all is fine again. Then suddenly it does it again, and again....

I've tried several times using different settings but no matter, it always yields the same result.

Obviously this is some new form of copy protection. What is it called, and what program can defeat it?

    Thanks in advance.

Try ripit4me or a trial of anydvd. - also wouldn't hurt to try different brand of blank media.....
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

I'll try rip it for me. AnyDVD never seems to run well on my machine.

Different brand media has nothing to do with it. It plays the same way on my HD after being ripped.

Actually, a new copy protection has nothing to do with your problem. Deja Vu has ILVUs. Title 1 is the actual main movie. Title 2 is the movie plus it shows commentary and behind-the-scenes stuff spliced in as you watch. All the rippers I've seen see Title 2 as being the longer title and therefore it gets selected by default. It's the wrong title to make a backup of. Make a backup of Title 1 and you'll have just the movie.

I figured it out by watching the DVD and seeing which titles were accessed and when. There have been a couple movies like this so now I always check before backing up my legally purchased DVDs.
