  1. I know this has been covered before, and i think that it was discussed wether the buffer underrun prevention should be off or on to avoid this.

I have never had this problem b4, but i recently uppgraded toast to 6.0.3, and i might have checked the underrun prevention.

So what do the forum know about this?

    Please help me with this!!

(press button "computer details" for info on my puter )

Oh, i don't remeber exactly. But it said something about a hardware error, i have only had the error twice. The first time was a couple of days ago when i was burning a dvd-r movie, and the second time was yesterday when i was burning an ordinary cd-r.

The only thing i noticed was that the error occured during the lead out process on both occations. I just think it's strange that i never experiensed this before (pre 6.0.3), my "toasts" has been very stable.

Do you think it has something to do with the underrun prevention checkbox?

how long have you had that dvr-104?
    was it installed by you?

ive only ever seen HARDWARE sense keys when the drive is bad/going bad...

if you notice them occuring in greater frequency, then I would begin to suspect the drive as a problem.

only way would be to test 6.0 with another drive (if you have access to one, or have a 2nd drive)

I've had the computer for about 1,5 years and the drive was already installed when i got it. I did install a region free firmware patch a month ago.

Do you think that could be the problem?

In that case a could try to install the original patch again.

    I had this same error
    "Hardware Error
    Sense Key xxxooooxx"
generated by Toast on a Samsung drive.
I called Samsung about it, they said to send the drive
in, it was a calibration error with the Laser.

I sent it in, two weeks later it came back ok.
    I reccommend Samsung CD-R drives..they have a 3 yr. warranty.

If it is a Pioneer SD that came with the Mac,
at 1.5 years old, you've already exceeded
the 1 yr. Apple Factory Warranty. I had this happen to
    an A03 in a 1st gen G4 QS, and when I called
Pioneer, they told me that all bundled A0 series
are Apple's responsiblity. Apple declined to fix,
because it was out of the 1 yr. warranty spec,
and I didn't buy Apple care for that machine.
So I ended up buying an A04 Bare Bones from
    Meritiline.com for like , $155.00 I think.
( this was 18 mos ago)
Put it in, didn't look back.

Moral here is, when it comes to Apple's pre-bundled
stuff, unless you have Applecare, they DON'T care.
I believe Meritiline.com now has good deals on A06's.

  7. Hmm, if this error occurs again maybe i should have it replaced then. My computer is a kind of lease, and the computer isn't legally mine untill after a period of three years. in the meantime all failures is my employers responsibility.

    Thanks for the info.
