installing gordian knot packs

Hi,
I was looking at the guides for dvd ripping using gordian knot (doom9) but i was wondering. Many of the tools the come in the 2 packs i have already downloaded seperately.

I have the nimo codec pack (custom install) and divx 5 and xvid separately. I also already have vobsub, and virtual dub.

Do i really need to install everything in the pack, or can i just install the parts i don't have and used the tools i already have? I don't really want to go uninstall everything that i have.

BTW, what is "virtual dub mod?" and is nandub better then virtual dub? why?
