I new to the world of video and have some basic questions. I bought a TRV33 and have been trying to capture using a USB connection and Sony's ImagMixer software. The problem is that the video comes in at a low resolution with a blocky look to it (like a bunch of faint squares.) It's really jumpy too. The same thing happened when I try to capture in Windows' Movie Maker. I thought maybe it was just the preview that looked bad but I get the same results when I export it using different settings.
I'm going to install a Firewire card but is USB that bad that it could be creating my problems?
Sony's manual actually vaguely mentions that this can occur but does not give a solution!
I have a AMD 2100 chip with 1 gig of RAM. I tried unplugging all USB devices except for the camera's cable and have plenty of system resources. Any ideas of what can cause this? Thanks so much.

You can not capture video with the usb. Use it only for transfering your pictures. do your video capture via firewire.

Thanks for the info. I hesitated buying firewire because all my slots are full. Just find a few combo cards that give me USB 2.0 as well as firewire. It does appear from Sony's manual that the USB cable is suppose to also be for capturing- but what do I know
The firewire should make this a non issue for me. Thanks again!
