    What's the best software for backing up / copying DVDs?
    Also what's best for playing dvds on pc..win xp pro?

    shrink, dycripter. dvdxcopy take your pick really a lot is down to personal tastes.
    Have a look round the guides on the left.

    Play back power dvd for me...
    Not bothered by small problems...

    The must haves on my computer:

    Basics
    - DVD Decrypter (Decrypts DVDS)
    - DVDShrink (Shrinks DVDs to fit -R media)
    - Daemon tools (allows you to mount ISO images)

    A little more advanced
    Conversions
    - TMPGEnc or TMPGEnc plus (mpeg2 conversion)
    - VirtualDubMod (frame serving)
    - Besweet (audio)
    - Vobedit

    Authoring
    - TMPGEnc DVD Author
    - Ulead Movie Factory 2

    Capturing
    Pinnacle Studio 8

    I prefer DVDShrink even when shrinking not required. PowerDVD and WinDVD both OK for playback.
