Thank you for the step by step help for capturing.

Believe it or not, I really have read quite a bit on the site, but when you're a total newbie, sometimes you don't even know what you need to read. Your blow by blow was just what I needed to get started. I successfully captured and authored my first full length movie from VHS to DVD.

I am having another problem though. Serveral movies I've tried have copy guard and it I don't know how to get around it. Is there a tool for this?

    Thanks again overloaded_ide.

And thanks to all of you who have helped the dummy get started. This is a great site.

You are one up on me with the capture/author success. Perhaps you better change your screen name.

I think DVDdecripter will work on DVD's but I am not sure which tool works on VHS tapes.

Check out the post I started below. You might get some help there.

  4. you'll need a hardware tool most likely. check facetvideo.com for the clarifier. it'll go inline between the VHS deck and your capture device and remove all protections.
