    HI

The program TPMGEnc keeps freezing when I try to use the "Source Range" option. I can type in the numbers for "Start Frame" and "End Frame" but I can't do it by moving the bar. When I do try it freezes. This forces me to guess on how many frames I must use to cut the file in half. The program now and then also freezes when it should start decoding.
Is this a comman problem or is this just my stupid computer ? And speaking of stupid computers: Mine now and then descides to shut it self down and restart(for example when the screen has shut down aftre an hour). When this would happen while encoding, is there anyway I can resume where I left off, or do I have to start over and pray my computer is in a good mood ?

Hope someone can help me but be warned more questions may follow, because I'm no computer wizkid and I've just discovered the wolrd of VCD and this is the first program I've tried

    Thanx

  2. Roma, since you have Win98, I suspect your computer isn't the latest/most powerful. TMPGEnc gets cranky if you give it compressed, variable bitrate audio (VBR). Even if it's constant bitrate (CBR), you may already be pushing your machine rather hard. Decompress the audio first with the decompressor in AVI2VCD. People will say VirtualDub does it better, but less chance for a noob to make a mistake this way. Try again, using original source for video and the decompressed file you just made for the audio.

Restarting problems? Try looking in power options under control panel. (It's been quite a while since I had Win98, so my memory may be at fault). The solution may be something as simple as checking off a box specifying the computer be "Always On".

Oh, download GSpot, it'll tell you all sorts of things about your AVI files. I presume that's what you're dealing with, since I don't see any DVD ROM or writer in your details.
