DVD Authoring HELP PLZ

Hello all this is my first time posting here, hopefully someone will give me a direct answer to my problem, as mirc is of no help at all.

My task:

Take a menu in VTS_01_0.VOB format and add it to a movie only rip made with dvdshrink (author mode).

Files:

1. the dvd files dvdshrink made after ripping the movie only in "author mode."

2. the VTS_01_0.VOB menu file i pulled off of the oiginal dvd and edited with MenuEdit to my exact needs.

So far i've tried a ton of programs and cannot find anything that can do this the easy way...so from that i assume this is a complex task and must be on the advanced level of dvd authoring somewhere. Well i'm here to find some help on this goal and accomplish my task at hand. I'm a quick learner, i've read tons of guides and scanned thru more. I have found nothing on this procedure (doubt any tutorials exist), and hope someone here has done this before and is willing to share the knowledge with me.

I figured this out with the help of Zeul, the creator of NuMenu4U. I wrote him a email asking the same question here if anyone else is interested in this matter and this infomation can become of use to others in the future as well.

you are quite right this is very advanced, and there are no tuts on this
procedure, so here goes

numenu4u won't accomplish what you want. if you have processed the main movie with dvdshrink (and i assume from what you are saying, movie only no menus) then what you need to do is copy over the menu vob (vts_01_0.vob) into the VIDEO_TS dir, and then the difficult part. you need to change the sector addresses within the original ifo to match the authored ifo sector addresses. ifoupdate should do this quite nicely for you. else you need to copy over (from the dvdshrink authored ifo into the original) the entire vts_c_adt table (all the cell details), vts_vobu_admap (all the vobu pointers) and tmapti table (if there is one). then in the PGC tables (NOT the menu PGC) change all the sector details of each cell. basically you are telling the dvd player from the ifo where to jump to, for each cell/chapter playback. this is all ok IF shrink has kept the same dvd structure as the original (ie the same amount of cells) when this is done, you should be able to navigate from the menus without any probs. finally before burning get vts sectors. i would do all changes from within ifoedit, just click on each entry and replace. when transferring the vobu_admap table if there are vastly more entries than in the original, then you will have a problem. the original ifo (or menuedit version) will have a certain amount of space allocated to it for the vobu table. Remember to change the end byte of the tables to match the authored. if you need to make more space then i'm afraid its a hex editor to add all the new details, then change the end byte of the ifo in ifoedit.

this is very complicated sh*t you're trying to do, here, would it not be
quicker just to author with dvdshrink and have the menu reauthored
aswell.

I followed his guide and it worked exactly the way i wanted it to, now i have my movie with a menu but the possibilities dont end here at all. This can be used for near darn anything....previews, extra crap, you name it. You are in control of how things get played and how everything is linked...this is great!!!



ya it might be time consuming but still its a awsome trick and i know how to do it now muahahaha........enjoy!
