  1. I just got a new computer with Windows XP media center. They included DVD software, Arcsoft Showbiz 2. I have been trying to burn DVD's that will play in my standalone DVD player without success. The software seems very user friendly and comprehensive. The DVD's I have burned play fine in my computer DVD drive. I have been using DVD+RW media.

I have been reading alot on this site but have yet to see any mention of Arcsoft Showbiz 2. I am also wondering whether the problem may be that my Philips DVD player is fairly old.

Any feedback on Arcsoft Showbiz 2? Any another thoughts?

    1) Check to the left (DVD Players - compatibility) to see if your Philips accepts +RW's.
    2) Are the RW's being "closed or finalised" after the burn is complete....IE...did you mean they play in the DVD-ROM or DVD Burner?
    3) Try a regular DVD+/-R ?
    4) Are the "creations" from DVD or from something like a camcorder?
It is most likely something SIMPLE...."No Worries".

  3. The software does say "Closing" at the end of the burn. I played the finished product on the same computer just using the DVD player. My DVD player wasn't among those listed on this site but it is fairly old. What I am burning are movies that I recorded with the XP Media Center. I will try DVD-R to see if that helps...I understand that may be more forgiving.
    Thanks for you input Hech54.

My girlfriend's fancy but older Sony DVD Player won't even play CD-R's....so it's possible your DVD player is "one of those".....maybe not a Sony....but one that hates anything "home grown". They're out there.

    Windows XP media center
Everything associated with the creatures that made this are suspect.
