  1. Ho All

I just started capturing some old videos vhs beta tapes ..with my HP Pavilion Laptop's tuner card ... I am using Windows Vista and Media Center to do this so far I am happy

I came across a tape that that once I was done reorded it split into two files ..it looks like the limitation may be 4 GB but I am looking to make 8 GB dvds

I can't seem to find a setting to change

    so here are my questions

    1. Is there a hidden setting to change this ?
    2. Is there some way of using difrent software ?
    3. If yes to Q2 ...any software recommendations ?

I obviously want the best quality

    Thanks in advance
    Ed

  2. If your hard drive is formatted FAT32 you have a 4 GB file size limitation. The solution to that is to reformat as NTFS. But if you're making movie DVDs that doesn't matter -- DVDs have a 1GB file size limitation. The DVD authoring software will take care of that. The only issue you may have is that some programs won't let you select two source files as one movie.

  4. There needn't be any doubt: Go to My Computer (or Computer), right click on the drive and select Properties.

The movie DVD spec is very clear: no file may exceed 1 GB. Look at any commercial movie DVD. You will see no files over 1 GB. Movies are typically spread over 4 to 8 1 GB files. When you author a movie DVD the authoring software will take care of this automatically. If you are just writing files to a data DVD this isn't an issue.

  5. jagoba tahnsk for your help

The HD on my laptop is NTSF...and the reason I said doubt is because this is a fairly new computer (2007) and fat32 and I couldn't tell you the last time I used a fat32 drive

As for the files I am still having issues with these 1.5 to 2 hr tapes. The other 1 hr tapes which have recorded to my HD are just under 4 GB I have no problem with putting them on a DVD

Could it limitations with the software ?? Anyone have suggestions ??

I am now trying to figure out how top merge these ,,,tempgenc keeps saying there is no video stream for part 2

    Thansk
