    All of a sudden my dvd rom would not read any cd or dvd discs. I have windows xp pro and it was working fine for like a month and all of a sudden the dvd rom stopped working. It keeps giving me a message saying " there is no disc in the drive"

    I have already tried to install the driver for it again by deleting it and restarting the pc and letting xp find the new drive, but no dice.

    Any suggestions?

    Did you make any software changes in da last month
    Hav e you got service pack one
    are the cables connected properly
    Stating the obvious is anything on the cds
    Is the laser knackered
    Is it slot loading therefore is the last covered in dust.
