Hi al! I just wana know that if I had a VCD or SVCD will it be full screen when I watch it on my standalone DVD player?
and I read that the quality is better than VCR, this true?
and if it's not on full screen is ther anyway of capturing or editing it, so that I can watch it full screen in standalone DVD player?

yes it will be full screen.

vcd is comparable to vcr quality, but this depends also on the quality of your video capture and the quality of your encoding.

svcd is better then vcr quality, but not all players play svcd. you'll want to check on this, also svcd normally takes more space.

easiest thing to do, if your dvd player supports, cdr/cdrw media, is make a vcd and see what you think. If your player will play cdrw media, then you really have a perk, because you can play around with the formats and etc and just keep reusing the same media.

    hope this helps.

well when you capture its preferable to capture in the sizes that follow the standards. 352x240 for ntsc vcd, 480x480 or 704x480 for ntsc svcd. Any other capture size will mean that you will have to resize the video. Which also means potential distortion, especially if you capture smaller and try to resize to up.

I hope that answers your question.
