I've used TMPGEnc several times to convert from various formats to "VCD-Ready" MPG files. On occasion, the video is too long, and I've had to use TMPGEnc's splicing utils to split the converted MPG file.

Since I've upgraded to TMPGEnc 2.0, things have gotten weird... I convert the video from AVI as I've done many times in the past, and tell Nero I want to make a VCD out of the resulting MPG. I know it's WAY too long, but this just to test for Nero-compatibility. It passes. The Nero data bar goes way into the red, so it would never burn, but at least there were no error messages.

So, I use TMPGEnc to split the same MPG into two smaller MPG files. When I use Nero to drag either of the split files into the VCD window, Nero analyses the file, and flunks it as incompatible.

Bottom line: Original MPG is good, split MPGs are bad.

    Any ideas why?

    Thanks,

    - N

  2. ShiZZZoN-

Well, i know when splitting mpgs in tmpgenc, you have an option for which stream type you want to split it.

If you encoded the mpg with Mpeg-1 Video cd, then when you go to mpeg tools and merge n cut, the stream type must also be Mpeg-1 Video cd. if its mpeg-1 system(automatic), it will be xvcd but it should decrease quality if it is that, it will just make the file size slightly smaller, i think

  3. I also have problems with TMPGenc 2.0 when I try to cut movies. It says it couldn't read something. Funny thing is that the same happens in TMPGenc 12h, but 12a can cut it.
This happened since I got version 2.0. Never had a problem before.
