    can my burner write at 2x.... i'm using 2x dvd-r discs... should it burn at 2x? takes me nearly an hour to burn one disc

    You didnt say what brand yr DVD-R media is...
    Sony is a bit fussy about media!
    Maybe you should get different/better media?

    only certain firmwares do 2x on 1x accus

    Use accu disks.
