I use DVDBackUp to make back ups of my son's DVDs. He is 15 months old and no matter what I try, constantly getting them and scratching them.
A DVD lasts a week or two before he finds it or I accidentally leave it where he can get it. It is not really that big a deal to burn a new CD with the VIDEO_TS files but I was wondering. Once I have a decrypted and ripped a new one, can I just copy that unencrypted DVD in Toast 6?

Sure you can. I do this by inserting the DVD-R movie in the drive, launching Toast, putting it in Copy mode, making sure CD/DVD Copy is selected on the left side column, and the right disc is displayed in Toast's window, and then I select "Save as Disc Image" in the "File" menu. Then, I can eject the DVD, put in a blank one, put Toast in Image File mode, drag the saved image onto Toast's window and burn away. Of course, if you have 2 DVD drives, you can always copy from a reader and write directly to the DVD-RW drive, but make sure to burn at a slower speed than the reader reads, or make sure you have buffer underrun protection enabled.
I like systems, their application excepted. (George Sand, translated from French), "J'aime beaucoup les systèmes, le cas d'application excepté." -

Yeah, Blues Clues and Wiggles all day long. I stick them in his DVD player and just let them play. Sometimes he watches them, orther times we play. Most of the time he ignores them but then at least I know he is watching something decent and it isn't soaps or Barney that are on.

Did you know the Wiggles are the most successful Australian musical group.
What's wrong with Barney? -
Yes actually I did know that. I think I read somewhere they are the richest men in Australia under 40yo. And Barney is the Jerry Springer equivalent of a gay goodie two-shoes. Everyone on his show is insipid and the script is just as bad.

This kicked my butt, for awhile, till I got some help here.
I checked the Toast "Quick Start" guide, and it mentions this fact on about page 59!! - As if I am going to read that far when attempting to make a "Quick Start" at using a program.
But, as ancient wisdom states: RTFM!
