After encoding an avi/divx ive started getting problems with stuttering films when played back on a standalone player
Its fine for a while untill about an hour and a bit in then it suddenly stopps
although the sound carries on it sometimes rights itself but not often
My thought were maybe
1 Memory i only have 256ddr 2100
2 writing speed to fast 2x
3 Maybe the encoding didnt work prop
Ive done a few that were allright but now i seem to be getting probs and i havent installed extra software or anything
Hopefully someone can suggest something

That is invariably shitty media. There really isn't a way to screw up a proper encode 1/2 way through. That is unless you didn't check it for bad frames before converting?

Yeah, I have to agree. sounds like cheap or bad media. Try using more expensive/better (?) media. Encodings not usually go bad halfway, offcourse these things can happen, but that should than also happen when playing on your PC or previewing your build DVD from your authoring package.

Sounds definately like crap media .........
I use 2 movies per DVD, used to use Mirror platinum, and frequently near the end of the 2nd movie stuttering would start, depending how close to the end of the DVD I went, I would even get the movie freezing, and the disk just sitting there spinning away
Changed to Ritek G04 purple dye, just gotta get around to burning a DVD using them yet. But my local computer shop can now supply them, cheaper than the online suppliers, as I don't have to pay P+P, and they are the ink jet printable ones as well
Forums seems to say Ritek purple dye is the best you can get, something to do with the dye that only Ritek use
Spend more on media, avoid generic unbranded, it just ain't worth the aggrevation you'll get -
Try looking at Video Fixer from http://www.fixvideo.com
Also, do a search for AVI fix/AVI Repair, see what comes up
You could also do it using VirtualDub for free, but with more work on your part
Video Fixer does the checking/repairing for you, and also does a back-up of the file, just to make sure it doesn't screw up your original before fixing
Will also fix/repair most other video formats as well
