  1. Okay,

So I don't have a DVD burner yet, but I want to get a jump on my knowledge before I do. I'm planning on getting a retail Plextor PX-708A internal DVD burner for my computer. First of all, if anyone has this model...any input on it (positive/negative) is welcome!

Next, I was interested in making backups of my DVD movies that I have. Is this as easy as doing a direct DVD copy (with my CD burner, that was how it was done)? I think I read here that the quality of the DVD-R or DVD+R might be important because it seemed some were having trouble towards the end of the movie with it skipping or something like that. What type of DVD media would you recommend for burning movies?

Also, I use my Playstation 2 to play movies a lot. I would say from memory that I bought it in the summer of 2002, but I'm not sure what version that is. Would both DVD-R and DVD+R be compatible, or am I just going to have to experiment with both media types?

I appreciate any responses and words of wisdom!!!
    Thanks!

  2. OK, see you're on a site with A LOT of wonderful information. The reason you could not post for the first few days after registering is that the people that run the site want you to look around and read posts, guides, and other stuff here so that when you do start posting questions, they are not totally of the "newbie" type.

People on this forum are happy to help, but you must show you've "done the work" and read some of the information on the site.

Do you see that green part of the column on the left of this website ? On top you can see "HOW TO". Right bellow that is "GUIDES". Click on that.

Then in search select from "How To category" option "How to rip DVD to DVD Recordable DVD+-R/W" and finaly click on "Search or List Guides" button.

Then read and read and read.... after you are done.... gon through "WHAT IS" and other guides. People here like to help but not if they see that you didn't spend some time learning.
