When I burn my DVD in Nero 6.0.0.0, I used 'DVD-Video' mode on a DVD-RW disc and PowerDVD reads 'Invalid format'. but when I burn it as 'DVD-ROM (UDF)' format, it works on my computer great, and also autoruns too.
Would 'DVD-Video' or 'DVD-ROM (UDF) ' be better for burning DVD's meant for a stand-alone player?

I've been using DVD-shrink for about 6 months, and burning disks with Nero 5.5.10.54 with absolutely no problems what-so-ever, unless I try to force the burning speed of a disk! I can compress a film by up to 40% and I have extreme difficulty telling the difference from standard if I can tell at all. My disks are burnt on a Pioneer 104/5 and I mainly use 'Datawrite' yellow 1x or grey 2x disks, Datawrite 1x & 2x rewritables, or 'Memorex' 4x disks.
I have heard stories about early versions of Nero 6 being a problem for burning dvd-video, but their latest updates seem to have sorted that out. have you upgraded your version? I didn't buy N6 because I couldn't see the point, when I already had perfectly capable software for the job I wanted to do.

No point upgrading for the sake of it, I still use Wordperfect! -
Nero does a very good job, if the files in the VIDEO_TS folder meet Nero's own video standards. Please do the following simple test, if you still have the original VIDEO_TS folder that you used to burn the media:
Simply use DVD Shrink for a second time to open the VIDEO_TS files on your hard disk. If there is something wrong with the files, Shrink will give you an error message during the initial analysis. If the tiltles and menus show up properly in Shrink, then take the next step and have Shrink process them again and send them to another DVD_TS folder. If you can complete this process, that would mean that there is nothing wrong with the files and Nero should burn them fine in either DVD Video mode or in ISO/UDF Mode.
You can also use DVD2One, or DVD Toolbox to open the VIDEO_TS folder for testing purposes.
Good luck. -
One other thing, you can also use DVD Shrink to test the files that are on the burnt media.

Just trying to get all this right.
Thanks. -
1. Somethimes the errors are not discovered during the initial analysis and are discovered during the actual transcoding process.
2. Yes, I meant VIDEO_TS folder. Sorry about that.
Please let us know what you find out. Good luck. -
I used dvdshrink w/ nero 6.0.0.26 demo and the dvd wouldn't play - I thought it was something I did until I read this post.
I shrunk w/o remaster on dvdshrink, then opened nero, new dvd video, dropped everything in the shrink folder into the VIDEO_TS folder that is created by nero in the nero project and then burned. dvd didn't play in either sony player I have which are ok w/ most things I burn. media was media I've used before w/ no problem on these players.
I didn't change any of the nero defaults. Is the above the right process?
One thing is odd is that these dvd are only 1x but I thought nero was trying to burn faster than 1x"As you ramble on through life, brother, whatever be your goal - keep your eye upon the doughnut and not upon the hole."
