I have firmware 1.41 at the moment and use stomp recordnow max to do my DVDs
I have got some 2x dvds and it takes just the time that a 1x would to burn
When i run the program and it starts burning at first it says its gonna take about 30minutes and decreases but then goes up to 60minutes.
Why doesnt it burn at 2x
I have downloaded the firmware v1.40 2x for all but not installed it
Is this the solution? and do i need any other programs to help
Is it a certainty to solve my problem and cause no damage?

Is your IDE controller set for PIO mode or DMA mode? It should be set for DMA mode for faster data transfer to your burner. Also, when was the last time you defragged your hard drive?

I have an a04 with the same firm ware, your problem is the disks you are useing, I have tryed disks that say 2 speed and they only burned at 1 speed. deefraging wont make much differnce to yourself, i stayed away from the newer firmware because the disks i am getting only cost £1 and they burn at 2 speed just try a few differnt makes of disk.
