  1. Which brands of DVD+ or -R is the best to purchase and which one +R or -R. thanks.

I currently use TDK DVD+R's and have had no problem with them but will they still be good 10 years down.

Gee I'm not a at NASA right now, but the disks we sent up in 1976 still play in my DVD player. Wait 10 years and come back and tell us how yours fair. Be sure to check them each week with a caliper, document the results meticously as I am sure you will have a lot of people trying to refut your claim.

Yeah but the disks on Voyager I & II are made of gold...I wonder what a 100 pack would cost.

TDK is a good brand. They'll probably last more then 10 years ... provided
you can them safe in place without light and where the tempature is
    constant.

If you forget one of the disk out of its box and "face up" on a window sill, it
won't probably last more then 2 monthes.

RW disks are less sensitive to the light and should last longer than R disks.

  9. The problem is that no knows for sure how long a recordable dvd will last.
Recently there have been reports of dye instablility. Limit your useage of dvd for archival storage. As of today the best guess is that a recordable dvd used for archival storage can last 5-7 years if properly stored. To understand the problem look at a color photograph taken 10 years ago an see the color shift in the dyes.
