  1. I have Vegas 4.0 and I trying to open or render as MPEG format but I always get a message that "Support for this format has expired" Any clue what to do to reactivate that. I think it has to do with mainconcept dlls supporting mpg in Vegas

    Thanks

did you recently install sound forge 7? this will do this ..

just re-install vegas and and get new activation number from sony/sonic foundry or install the new version of vegas 4.0e and reactivate ..

did you ever register your MainConcept encoder within Vegas, or were you using it on a trial basis?

if you registered it, you should contact either Sony or MainConcept's tech support. if you were using it on a trial basis, you need to register it.

You were right, I installed Sound Forge which did the whole thing, I Just reinstalled the plugins directory and it fixed teh whole thing. Thanks a lot for all the help

What would be the best format for encoding. I am rendering as SVCD MPEG 2. Unfortnately I dont have DVD Writer and my DVD Player doesnt play SVCD (Panasonic) so I will have to re-render to VCD which is really bad quality, any recommendations

  7. I would recommend that you get a dvd player that plays svcd's or a dvd writer. I just bought both for less than $150 total and it was the best investment I made all year. No more crap video, and you will have much more fun editting your video and making a dvd with menus, etc...

Other than that, you are just stuck encoding to VCD format.

I guess you are right, I am thinking of getting a DVD writer, I was thinking about Pioneer A06 to support multiple formats but if you said you got both writer and player for $150 I would be interested to know 1) what you got? and 2) where you got them from?

    Thanks

I got a Toshiba sd-2900 from Best Buy for $55, and I got a lite-on dvd writer from there as well for $99.

I got the lite-on so cheap because they had been out of the norcent dvd writers which advertise for $99 for like 3 weeks, so the manager finally gave me a lite-on for $99...
