  1. I've often been puzzled why, when joining MPG files together, that in attempts to burn to disc as VCDs, I only get the FIRST SEQUENCE appearing. If the file is 15 minutes long, often I'd get only the first sequence which might have been 2 minutes or something but it doesn't recognize the remaining portions. This is usually joining using the Join feature in MoreMissingTools (MMT). Playing the joined file on the computer looks just fine

I've read elsewhere where you Join the whole thing, take it all apart completely again and then rebuild back together; I did that once but nothing changed... Thanks!

joining mpeg files will damage the timecode.

If the first segment is 10 minutes and the second is 10 minutes, a lot of dvd players will see the file as only being 10 minutes. Instead of going from 10 minutes and 0 seconds to 10 minutes and 1 second, it would go from 10 minutes and 0 seconds to 0 minutes and 0 seconds. Does that make sense?

The only workaround is to demux and re-mux your joined file. I don't think that this is a Mac related issue at all, however.

  3. Ahhh! I've been thinking "horizontally" but your solution is to demux/remux "vertically"! Okay, let me give that a shot. I don't think I've actually done that; and of course (bing!) the reason being timecode! Thanks.

    horizontal? vertical?

  5. Sorry, it's just the way I've been looking at treating the videos. "horizontal" is joining, splitting but demuxing and muxing is "vertical" because of the audio/video tracks being separated (as in Premiere tracks being on top of one another).

  6. I've been trying to demux/remux joined files and it, too, fails! This is using FFMPEX, MPEG2Works, and others. For example, someone joined all 10 episodes of the Clone Wars saga (33 mins) and I attempted to burn that, but it only recognizes the first 6 minutes. I jumped to MMB and that only ends in error messages. MPEG2Works' multiplexing attempt resulted in an error with 6 minutes output file (2 chapters worth).

I've tried ISO'ing/CUE.BIN the file via MMB but they don't work...

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

you could always just burn as a VCD with multiple tracks as opposed to joining them.

This can be done easily using MissingMpegTools.
