Ok, I ripped one of my dvd's using DVD shrink, and now I have these .vob, .bup and .ifo files. Now I want to burn them.
So I went to a how to guide on the web(http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/nero.htm) and it said to select DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO) as the type for better compaitbility with DVD-players. So I did that and followed the instrcutions. Then it said to drag in my VIDEO_TS folder which I didn't have because DVD-shrink just put all the files in one folder. So I created a folder called VIDEO_TS and dragged the files in there. At this point Nero gave me a warning that said: "You have added DVD-Video content to a compilation type that will not result in a DVD-Video compliant disc. To create discs playable in standalone DVD-Video players, please use the DVD-Video compilation type.
So I looked at this and this gives me two folders if I select this option: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. Do I just put everything in the VIDEO_TS folder and leave the AUDIO_TS folder empty, or should I remove this folder? Also, will it be less compatible with DVD-players? Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, you put all the files that were encoded by DVD shrink into the video_ts folder. It works great and I have not, crossing fingers, burned a single coaster with Nero. Everyhting works, Movie sub-chapters and everything that you leave in the movie features such as Multi angle and games on some disc also work as normal.
As for compatibility, I have not ran into any problems, and my roomate has an older DVD player that is generally very picky with DVD's and they all play with no problem. I would say they work as good from Nero as any other burn program as that would be the only difference you are questioning. I really like how copytodvd worked but it locked my computer up and wasted a couple of disks before I realized it must have been some kind of compatibility issue with my computer. -
dunno really, i read somewhere it will be more compatible doing it the
DVD-ROM(UDF/ISO) way, i do it the DVD-Video compilation way and
my DVD's play on my DVD player and my playstation 2.
i use DVD-R.

I read somewhere that if you use Nere 6.0.0.19 or newer, you should use the dvd-video-mode, instead of iso/udf or udf. It solved my problems!
I use these settings:

Ok I burned using DVD-Video and it worked on my stand-alone! Thanks guys.

I used to be a big Nero user, I still use it for data disc, but my prefered method of burning a DVD movie uses recordnowmax. I cannot suggest enough that you use it, its compatibility is perfect, while Neros can be ... interesting.

Since Nero 6.0.0.19, to correctly get a DVD movie to play on a standalone/computer you MUST now use the DVD-Movie template
It will quite happily burn it as a UDF if you select that template, BUT when you come to play it back in a standalone DVD player, you will get a menu popping up so you can select what tracks to play
Whatever has changed since 6.0.0.19 effects how its interpreted by a DVD player, so it now correctly reads as an ISO DVD, NOT a video DVD
I know, 'cos I tried burning it as a UDF just to see what would happen...... It worked before 6.0.0.19, so I assume they've improved the compatability or actually fixed some bugs relating to DVD specifications which let you do the UDF thing before
Its mentioned somewhere on the Nero site/docs about to get the files in the correct order you must now select the correct template -
Well as of now(knock on wood) Nero works for me so I'll stick with that until I get a problem with it. But thanks for the other options.
Now a question about DVD-shrink. I re-authored a DVD, and took out all subtitles and extra audio(besides DD). I burned the movie Italian Job and one thing I noticed was that during the movie when people would speak a different language(not Enlglish) the English subtitles would pop up, which is of course what is supposed to happen. However at the same time the French subtitles would pop up. This only happened once or twice during the movie when the English subtitles popped up. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is this a bug with DVD-shrink?
Thanks! -
