  1. How do I do it?!?
MAC DEC 1.5.2. just crashes on the file, I tried to just let DIVX Doctor save the AC3 File but DVD Studio pro won't recognize the file, is there an easier way to do this?

  2. Open the DivX with VirtualDub, go to the audio tab and select (direct stream copy). Then go to the file tab and select (save wave).
Once you have saved it to lets say your desktop open nero burning rom and press new as if you are going to burn a disc.
In the right hand file browser window click once on desktop and all the files on your desktop will appear on the right. click once on the wave you just saved it will highlight blue, now click once again and you will see you can rename it change the .wav to .ac3 hit enter and you will get a warning saying (If you change filename extensions, the file may become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?). Hit enter again and then the wave file on your desktop is now an ac3 file.

  3. Thanks Taxiback for the help, but I would prefer a MAC solution, I really would rather not have to work in VPC. Also, I need to go the other way around, from AC3 to AIFF. Anyone else?

  4. The same thing is possible by opening the Divx in VLC and using Ambrosia's Wiretap to record the output. Download it here: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/20167

actually, the easiest way is to just use Quicktime. There is an AC-3 codec for Quicktime that works extremely well. You can simply install this codec, and then work with your divx file from within Quicktime as you would any other file, including exporting it to MPEG2 or just extract the audio track and save it.

I've been using this codec for over a month with zero problems.

  6. Zero, as usual, you 'da man!
Is that codec on Apple's site or is it a 3rd party plug in?
Ryan, thanks for the tip I'll give that a shot as well if Mr. 6s sulution doesn't work for me (or if I can't find the codec).

I don't know what it is with these files but they are causing havok all across my system, I finally decided to go the low route and convert the beautiful 6 channel AC3 to a 2 channel AIFF file and then reconvert it back to AC3 using APACK, but it kinda sucks. I'll let you know how it turns out. Once again, thanks guys!

It requires the DivX(tm) decoder (Pro optional)
