cannot "drag and drop" to dvd, but to cd ok

until recently I could "drag and drop" to both cd and dvd but now it only works with cd. when trying a dvd I get the error "disc write protected, take protection off or use another disc" and when I try to acces the same dvd again I get this error "Disk not formatted, windows cant read this disc, it may be damaged or using a format not compatible with windows.
I have spend about 25 new dvd different brands which now all seem too have error.
I use:
winxp home
toshiba sd-r5002
instant cd/dvd VOB

Tried to make a multisession disk with Nero: dvd-rom(udf) and according to NERO the burnprocess completes succesfully, but once again when trying to acces the dvd I get the error:
Disk not formatted or damaged. I could acces the dvd before burning it.
I can also acces dvd,s I burned exactly the same way before this problem started

I'm not sure if this applies but here are some experience I've recently had......I was using (and am currently using) Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum. It has packet writing software called "Direct CD". With that software, I have been able to format CDR, CDRW, DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs for "drag and drop" functionality. I was going to convert over to Nero 6 Ultra Edition but when I installed it, I found I was no longer able to do "drag and drop" with write once (DVD+R, DVD-R) media. However, I could format CDR, CDRW, DVD+RW and DVD-RW discs for "drag and drop" packet writing. I sent an email to Nero and they told me that in fact, the packet writing software for Nero 6 Ultra Edition would not work with write once DVD media. I asked why and they said there was a licenseing issue and if they were to include packet writing to write once DVD media, they would have to raise the price of their product. While the Nero product looked promising to me, I drag and drop to DVD+R media all the time and did not want to give this up! I went back to Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and am very happy.

Did you recently change to Nero 6 from another program? This might be your problem

Yes I did recently change to NERO 6, and have also been suspecting that it had something to do with the problem, but I have also tried to uninstall nero again, but I seem to be stuck with the problem whatever I do now.
I am considering to format my hard drive and start on a fresh.

I hear you there. That is a real bummer but I've had to do that more than once myself when a problem just won't seem to go away. Sure, you could spend hours and hours trying to fix your current problem but a fresh start is a good thing sometimes. In my case, I was running Roxio Go-Back 3 Deluxe so, when I saw that Nero was not working for me, rather than uninstall Nero, I just used Go-Back to revert my hard drive to before I installed it. So, for me, it's like Nero was never there. You might try using a program such as regclean to see if Nero left behind any registry entries that may be causing the problem. If there are registry entries pointing to Nero products, have regclean remove them and see if your problem goes away.

Do you run Windows XP? If so, have you tried the system restore function of Windows XP? Maybe you can revert your drive to before the install of Nero that way.......

Back again with a formatted hard drive and this time with "roxio easy cd dvd creator 6 platinium" installed. But before I could try it I found out that now I cant access any blank dvd-r at all from windows, get the error: No access, incorrect function.......................I can access any other dvd/cd, just not blank dvd,s.............so I dont think this is a "writing software" problem anymore, but gotta have something to do with windows reading formats.........
